I would like to know if there is a way to remove all Email requirements for Drupal. I am using Drupal for a local internal website that is behind a firewall and has no SMTP or Email capability. Only employees have access, it is a very small company (10 people) and I don't need a high level of security.
Right now when people login, even though Email confirmation is not checked, it shows an Error message that Emails cannot be sent. I would very much like this to go away if possible.
Thanks.
Rob

There is a module for that:
There is a module for that: http://drupal.org/project/logintoboggan
It will do everything you want with a bit of configuration.
Email
Thanks for the info on Login Toboggan, but this doesn't really address the issue. It still asks users to enter an Email address when logging in and still gives the error messages due to the server not being able to access an SMTP or other mail service.
I would like to remove Email requirements completely as they are not needed for this site (very small internal site with only about 10 users).
Thanks,
Rob

Not sure how to remove ALL references to email funcitonality, but the http://drupal.org/project/localemail module might help with the user error message.
Major fail to Drupal writers
I think not having the ability to turn off all Email abilities is a MAJOR fail for Drupal. Not everyone wants emails going out of their web server all the damn time. As in my case, a private server behind a firewall Email is not only NOT needed but prohibited by the company for security reasons. There should be an administrative option to disable Email completely and not have to put up with the BS error messages all the time. There is absolutely no reason in the world that this doesn't exist already.
This has become such a major annoyance that I am being forced to Word Press. That sucks because I just got this pos setup and mostly running.
By the way - all the modules just stuff a random email address in place of a user address. Does not help with anything other than that.
Rather minor one, actually
You're ranting because Drupal out of the box doesn't suit your edge case and, rather than seeing how you can pitch in and help, you're jumping ship. If that's what you want to do, that's fine, but I don't see the thousands of people who have made Drupal what it is today to be the ones failing here.
