I'm adding content to a dummy site and want to know if there is anyway to assign a category other than letting Calais do it automatically OR going in after it's created and editing the "Document Category" field in Calais Terms.

I'd like to be able to add the category on the same page as where I'm entering in the body text, etc.

The category listing pages (/articles) are set up to accept any taxonomy term - not just terms from Calais. So you could do /articles/sports and it would pull any content that is tagged with the term "Sports." So, try creating a new controlled vocabulary for your own purposes - "My Sections" with the sections you want. These will show up as normal taxonomy term dropdowns on your node edit screens. Then reset your navigation to point to your new article listing pages using these new terms, instead of the ones we preset that link to the Calais document categories. Hope this helps.
