I'm not sure you're giving enough information for me to help.
You understand that the module implements a filter, right? And that you have to enable that filter for the input format that you are choosing for your textarea? And that you need to be sure to enable the input formats (filters) for the CCK field when you create it?

If I am not mistaken, I enabled the filter under settings>input formats for the full html and the filtered html filters. Ordinarily I use full html. Still don't see any evidence of encoding looking at the browser view source.
