I noticed this problem when the shipping address form would not show up when I went to checkout.

I tested this by creating both new generic and shippable product and trying to check out again. I then set the option for showing the billing address form only for shippable products and that form disappeared as well when I went to check out.

I believe that something is causing all products to be created as non-shippable or maybe unassigned.

Looks like I'm mistaken. I went into the database and the Products were getting the value 'Tangible'.
So I guess the problem is either with the checkout or address modules?

Have you added the shippable feature to the tangible product?
