Configuration message does not go away

Thanks for this excellent module- it's very convenient and it's also teaching me a lot about panels and views.

My issue: after enabling the module, I see the note in the message area on a number of admin pages:

"You can now configure the Total Control module for your site."

After I visit the module configuration page and save my settings, the above message persists. Is this intended?

Also, if I want some roles to have access to the Total Control dashboard but not the above module configuration page, this is a problem - other roles can see this message then get access denied errors when they click the link in the message.

Is there a way to hide the message once the settings have been saved?
