That's the behavior.

The expected behavior is that the field can be edited.

Also, from a usability perspective, I'd prefer the floating [edit] and a Save button. The click inside to open/click outside to close (works in Safari) behavior is elegant but nothing else works like that

I just installed editable fields and the same thing is happening to me. I click to edit a field and then when I click in the textarea to edit it, the textarea closes so i dont get a chance to edit. I loaded up IE8 and tried it and it worked fine.
