There isn't a place where I can go to be sure I've setup an icon for everything. It would be handy if the attribute list included the icon. It would also improve my assurance that the attribute I'm changing is the same as the attribute I'm looking at in scenarios where the attribute has an icon.

I'd suggest that attributes that don't have an icon associated with them simply call a default. Attributes that should have an icon should call it so that it would be missing if it isn't around. Some browsers don't show a missing image (the space is left blank) so having the expectation of an icon for everything would be important to making it possible to recognize a missing icon quickly.

I'm not sure if I want to be adding a lot more to the attributes interface, I'd prefer actually to be splitting up the attributes section so that each attribute is a setting in the respective module (#532420: Change attributes into taxonomy).

In terms of missing icons, we already have an old issue: #257881: New attribute results in missing icon, about the handling of missing icons, and I think this would cover the main problem of missing icons. But needs sorting!

We'll see if there are any other inputs on this, but otherwise I think I'd go for a "Won't Fix" on this.

Thanks for your understanding.

I've just made #257881: New attribute results in missing icon a bug report rather than task, so it should get attention sooner - this one really needs sorting as it is an extremely old issue.
