Issue Summary
When we are lucky enough for a site to leave this block activated, it should point to drupal.com, not drupal.org.
drupal.com provides clear and digestible information about what Drupal is. Most people will just glaze over when they see drupal.org - we loose an opportunity to increase mind share.

No, sorry - this seems totally out of line? Drupal.com is not an official entity to link too, and will not be able to provide them meaning full context to extra documentation, community projects ect ect?

I disagree.
If someone clicks the link from some random website we have a 5 second opportunity to communicate with them. That is what drupal.com is for.
99.5% of people will click the link to drupal.org, think 'what the hell is this?' and then press the back button. People arriving at drupal.org without any context of what it is will just be confused. drupal.com eases people in without making them feel stupid.
What do you mean drupal.com isn't official?

I agree with Bojhan. Powered by means that there is a software to download at the other end of the link. And Drupal.org have the download links displayed properly.

I don't feel that strongly about it.
IIRC Mark Boulton said that the download link should be further away from the user. I think it is being removed from drupal.org front page in the redesign.
Is the powered by block for insiders or outsiders? I say outsiders (from the extreme outside). Most people clicking the link wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do with the download, but when they need a website we want them to say "I want Drupal!".
The link is about raising mind share and brand.

Hypothetical:
If Facebook was running on Drupal, would you rather it linked from a sidebar to drupal.org (even after the redesign) or drupal.com?
