I've installed Panels and all the modules going with it, but everything came to a crawling halt. It takes up to 3 minutes just to add something to the Panel. So I disabled Panels, but now the "Home" page is not there. How can I recover it? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much, worked like a charmed.

My second problem is the "Blocks" area, I can drag and drop the section anymore. The icon is not there, and the weight dropdown field is a number.

sounds like you disabled javascript in your browser.
