So if you commit a filefield that is required you are unable to modify any other fields as you'll have to repopulate the required filefield again.

Example: So I have a music product that gets uploaded but once an admin commits the file to file download the user can't really edit the genre or lyrics or other fields as they will have to reupload a song into the required filefield.

Any thoughts on how I could fix this?

This is fixed in the latest 6.x dev release. I will wait to mark this issue as fixed for now. If you can, please give feedback regarding functionality and bugs (if any).
