When activated, in Administer this modules states "Nodewords Allows users to add meta tags, e.g. keywords or description. This module doesn't actually implement any meta tags, but requires other modules to implement them."

Can someone advise WHAT those "other modules" would be?

That description may need to be changed as the module has progressed beyond what it was originally intended maybe.

A better place for this thread would have been as a support issue in the queue of the module in question. Kiam is a proactive developer.

Best I can tell, is the projects listed on the project page http://drupal.org/project/nodewords

Nodewords may indeed have progressed; however I have installed and activated the module (as well as the Basic and Extra modules included), edited the Homepage to provide description and keywords meta tags - and presently the page "source" shows no meta tags have been added. That would suggest that there is in fact still something missing.

Your suggestion for a better pace for this thread is confusing - "in the queue of the module in question"? Far as I can tell there are no specific queues for specific modules. If there are, please be more specific.

As for the generalized "Support/Module Development" forum (if that's what you're alluding to) - your own forum guidelines there state:
"The module development forum was created to aid those who are developing modules for Drupal."
I'm certainly not developing a module, and wouldn't assume that my question is a development issue.

Please, some REAL help would be appreciated.

If the module isn't working, then it would likely be a benefit to file a bug report rather then a support request (as previously instructed) in the issue queue of the module in question.

Every project has their own issue queue for reporting bugs or dealing with module specific support questions. see: http://drupal.org/project/issues/nodewords?categories=All for nodewords issue queue. Note that issue queues, and forums are not the same area of drupal.org. Issue queues are found on every project page which was previously linked. There are times when reading through or performing a search on the already fixed support requests (or whatever search you want to perform to narrow or widen to scope), you may find an direct answer there from someone else who posed a similar question.

Not at all sure where you were going with the forum guidelines reference, I'm merely guiding you to a place where there is a sub community of users and an area for information to be had, as I don't use nodewords.

I surely hope the above was specific enough. Unless someone hops in with a direct answer or what you define as "REAL" help.

The above was indeed specific enough VM - that's what I needed thanks. Would have been so helpful if you said so in the first place; I had no idea that page you've linked to above, existed.

Since I originally posted, I've re-checked the website and noticed some of the tags I created now show up in the page source - about 2 hours after I first inserted them. (NOTE: after first creating the tags, I cleared the browser cache and then refreshed the page, before checking the page source. No tags appeared after about 1/2 hour of trying, whereupon I looked for solutions and then posted here.)

Noticing that the keywords meta tag that now appears was truncated (some of the values I'd inserted were omitted), I suspected length is critical and edited the description meta tag accordingly (350 character limit stated by module). Sure enough, that tag now also appears. (I had taken the limit to be a guideline -as should be the case in SEO. Turns out it's a hard limit.) A couple more to sort out, but problem solved.

And it would appear that the "other modules" alluded to in the module instructions may perhaps be the "Basic tags" and "Extra tags" modules that were included in the installation. Perhaps originally they were not...

Thanks again for the help VM.

Sorry... I just wasn't one of those who support the forums with the superhero ability to 'just' know what someone does or does not know, or how much hand holding they require when they create a forum thread and I respond and try to guide.
