Can drupal actually convert to a music community as well as Jamroom?
Maybe someone knows about with Jamroom and, if so, it is better than drupal?

Hi Stefan,

I know jamroom well. I've only been using drupal for about a 8 months. One of the things that i have been trying figure out how to do with drupal during that 8 months is figure out how to get drupal setup in a similar way to jamroom.

Jamroom has 2 main sections the top section that can display any of the content from any of the bands on the site, then it also gives each band their own sub-site at their band name. I havent been able to figure out how to achieve this with drupal yet. Im currently exploring the 'domain access' module as a possible solution to be able to group user uploaded content as a min-site of the main one, but its not going too well down this path yet.

From my experience todate, drupal does a good job at containing and displaying content when thinking of all the content being part of one site, but there is no simple solution (that i have found yet) to make drupal the container and give each of its users mini-sites inside the drupal container.

Jamroom is an excellent piece of software which i dont think you could replicate with drupal for price it costs to buy even the most expensive jamroom package.

If you want a music community, that is exactly what jamroom is for. It is open source too and their forums are extremely active and fast with support.

What i want to be able to do is to have that same mini-site like structure, but apply it to sites that are not music related. So I will keep looking for a drupal solution. If anybody knows how to do it, love to hear.

If you really want to do it with drupal, some of the hints/modules that seam to be heading in the right direction are:
* ubercart marketplace - to give each user their own store - http://drupal.org/project/ubercart_marketplace
* contexts, spaces, features - to give each user thier own userspace (like a mini-site) = http://rufzeichen-online.de/build-your-drupal-meta-module-context-spaces...
* domain access - still trying to group users content into sub-sites of the user - http://drupal.org/project/domain

Jamroom gives each band their own url:
http://example.com/bandName/
http://example.com/metallica/
http://example.com/beatles/
etc...
