How would I allow, or modify the poll module to allow guests to vote?

just have to set the right permissions under admin/user/permission. which seem fairly self-explanatory to me.

Seems self-explanatory to me, too. Works for me in version 4.4, there must be some other trick in 4.5.2.

So, how do you enable anonymous voting on polls in 4.5.2?

Navigate to admin/user/configure/permission on your site (if you don't have clean URLs enabled, preface that with ?q= after your domain name).

Scroll down until you see the Polls module section. You'll see "Vote on Polls." Check the box underneath the "anonymous user" heading. Hit submit and you're done.
