The Default robots meta tag setting drop down is not available on the Settings page or Default and specific meta tags. Is it available elsewhere with v6x-1.8?

Robots option checked in 'Meta tags to show on edit forms' and 'Meta tags to output in HTML'.

Was available on the Settings page in Nodewords V5.

I am using Nodewords and couldn't see the robots tag and wondered why it wasn't writing. I did a little research and realized that if no robots metatag is present, supposedly the crawlers will proceed as if the directive were "INDEX, FOLLOW".

I found the following info here: http://www.robotstxt.org/meta.html.

Valid values for the "CONTENT" attribute are: "INDEX", "NOINDEX", "FOLLOW", "NOFOLLOW". Multiple comma-separated values are allowed, but obviously only some combinations make sense. If there is no robots tag, the default is "INDEX,FOLLOW", so there's no need to spell that out. That leaves:

The meta tag ROBOTS doesn't use anymore a drop-down menu, but it uses checkboxes.

I am anyway able to see them, as you can see from the attached screenshot.
