When starting an install, and being a scatter brain and deciding to randomly dl some more modules before finishing install, drush dl fails with "Drush command could not be completed." and no further information, even with --destination== in use. Quite confusing. Not sure if anything can be done for it.

You are installing via the web or with installsite command? You always get better error messaging when adding --verbose or --debug. Please reopen if you work up a patch. Otherwise this is somewhere in the realm of not supported or by design
