If you have DHTML menu disabled for your top menu (primary links), the side menus from menu_block do not have DHTML_MENU enabled.

dmsmidtI'm searching for similar functionality. (Don't apply dhtml-menu on primary links, but enable it on the menu_block containing primary links) I can't get your patch to work though.
I'm using the latest dhtml_menu 6.x-4.x-dev and the stable 6.x-2.2 version of menu_block, also tried the dev.
Just replacing menu_block.module with the content of your patch doesn't work for me.
Any sugestions?
I first tried it with local_menu and dhtml, but that doens't work either. See: http://drupal.org/node/269576

vuilI closed the issue as Closed (outdated) because it is for unsupported 6.x version of Drupal.
Thanks to everyone!
