I have a website about old magazines. The picture of the magazine covers are nodes, the names of the publishers are taxonomy terms, and I'm using a view to display all the magazines by a specific publisher. The magazines currently display like this:
Mag #1 Vol 1 No 1
Mag #1 Vol 1 No 2
Mag #1 Vol 1 No 3
Mag #2 Vol 1 No 1
Mag #2 Vol 1 No 2
Mag #2 Vol 1 No 3
Mag #3 Vol 1 No 1
Mag #3 Vol 1 No 2
Mag #3 Vol 1 No 3
...
What I would LIKE is for the magazines to display only one of a title, like this:
Mag #1 Vol 1 No 1
Mag #2 Vol 1 No 1
Mag #3 Vol 1 No 1
...
Is this doable without coding?

have you tried the DISTINCT
have you tried the DISTINCT setting under Basic Settings for that view?
that wont help, if the full names are "mag #1 vol #1 no 1", etc. because each of those would indeed be distinct... but if the names are more generic, like "mag #1", then only the first of the three listed in your example would come back in the result set...
