Upload doesn't work

The default folder was created in the files folder and is owned by www (apache) but I cannot upload images to category_pictures.
It seems to work but the folder remains empty and when I go back to the images tab nothing indicates (correctly) that an image has been uploaded.

It hasn't written anything in the term_image table either (also correct).

I'm using the module with Drupal 4.7.1
