I made some changes to the left block and now I can't log in to my own website or even make any changes at all.

Did you remove the User login block? If that is the case, you can go to http://yoursite.com/user to log in.

Just a small comment: if nice URLs are not enabled, then the URL to access would be: http://yoursite.com/?=user.
