Hi,
I don't know how to formulate the question, I guess one could call it the site structure.
I'll describe what I'd like to do:

Imagine, there are several departments in a company:

Dept-1
Dept-2
Dept-3
...
Dept-n

Every Dept's pages would be accessible from the same page. That is, they have their menu on the very same page:

Main Menu
Dept-1
Submenu1
Submenu1.1
Submenu1.2
Submenu2
Submenu3
Dept-2
Submenu1
Submenu1.1
Submenu1.2
Submenu2
Submenu3
Dept-3
...
Dept-n

Every dept. may be looked at as a separate website. Every Dept. would have their own administrator, running their pages, activities. They all would have their members (with login) who can contribute to the Dept's pages, forums blogs etc.

Yet all (logged in) employees can read all pages.
Some pages may be Public.

Where I need your help is:
- HOW DO I FIND INFO how to do this (in Drupal?)
- what is the terminology i need to use to find info?
- it is not a multi-site approach,
- it is not 'organic group' ...

I used organic groups for my site. I haven't finished the design yet but I can tell that this module does fir your requirements. So, you may want to give it a try.
