Im currently using node comment to allow people to review profiles of bands the issue i have is the comments arent appearing on the pages. I'm using panels to display the pages (content profile is also being used for the pages) and I've added the node comment content pane to no success.

What do you mean by "node comment pane" ? You should insert "nodecomment" view pane to show nodecomments.
