Hi

We had a site built by a friend who now no longer assist's with the site, but when I asked him how do I update or install drupal on my computer he said I do not have to update it ??.

Just that I feel my site will eventually crash without updates, can anyone assist a total newbie on what I should do. Dont even know what version of drupal is on my site as he will not give any details. When I am updating my site all I do is log in through my site and it brings up all the options for the site apart from how to check drupal.

The site appears to be running drupal 5.15 http://www.englishelectricpreservation.co.uk/CHANGELOG.txt

And yes, you do have to update it.

Who has user 1 on the site? Probably your friend. Try to get it. Life without user 1 is very difficult.

Regarding to user 1, you can reset its password at user edit page or use phpmyadmin to copy your password to user 1 password field.

Have just checked the user section of the site and there is now only one user on there, which is myself does that mean I will be user1. If so once I have downloaded the latest version of drupal where do I install it to.
