I really like the multi-site feature, easy to upgrade Drupal. But, I have many modules that I use on various sites. I could put them in the /modules directory for the whole site. But this makes upgrading a pain -- have to remember to move these files out of the way. I have been putting the modules under each sites/domain/modules directory. But this is a ton of duplication and makes module management a mess. So, before I make any more spaghetti out of the file system, is there a way to have modules be shared acrosse the sites directory other than the main modules directory? I can't really do symlinks in my environment. Thank.

I use a contrib directory
I create a contrib directory under /modules and place all non-core modules there. Then when I upgrade I merely move the /modules/contrib folder to the new install directory. Beware of module authors who hardcode the /module/ path in their code.
thanks
Thanks, this is the approach I decided to follow.
