I want to convert a site to drupal, but in the background, there is an existing site with a home page called index.htm I thought about using an .htacces file but with my isp those files seem to disapear when I upload them in DW, I have asked them about it and they merely ask me to send the .htaccess file to them to upload, Im not happy with this as a solution as I have no control if it goes wrong,so I was wondering if there was another way I can set the home page to stay at index.htm while I develop the drupal site in the background.

Has anyone got any ideas how?

Thanks

Your ISP control panel should have an area to define a "Default File" or similar.

At the moment, it is likely pointing to "index.php". You can change this (or re-sequence, depending on the UI) to use "index.htm" as the default file.

Then, when you are ready to launch your new Drupal site just change it back to "index.php"
