I'm a newbie! So far I've built two sites in English. Now, I have a client who wants me to construct a Spanish site. The obvious answer would be to install Drupal in Spanish. However, I'm more confortable using English to build and adminster the site. Is it possible to create a site where depending on which user logs in, the administration of the site would appear in their chosen language?

Yes, User can select a language on his user setting page [user/id]

Thanks for your quick response. Do I just download & install a translation. Sorry, if I'm asking stupid questions... Would you mind explaining how this is done, or can you recommend any documentation or modules?
