Module should import comments from Joomla JComments

I agree, this is probably an important feature. I will look at how much work is involved. Any patches would be welcomed.

@malclocke: you might want to look a bit at http://drupal.org/node/249643 (I did it for jomcomment module).

I'm really gonna need something like this, but for JComments.

There are several options for comments on Joomla, and I don't think I'm likely to be able to support them all. But jom_comment seems to be the most popular, so would probably be the best to support initially.

Unfortunately, jom_comment is a pay for component, and I don't have a copy. If anyone is willing to provide me with an SQL dump of a site with jom_comment installed I will work towards getting comment import working.

In the meantime, if you must have comments imported check out http://drupal.org/project/joomla2drupal which misses some of the features of this module, but does import from jom_comment.

I believe JComments is the most used comments component.

Jom Comments is paid, and JComments has a lot more features, despite being free.

Don't be humble! Looks like you are right, JComments does appear to be the most popular, and as it's freely available that gives me something to work with. May looks at setting up the basics for JComments import when I get the chance.

I've got a HUGE quantity of comments from jcomments.

I already completed my migration weeks ago with Table Wizard + Migrate, and i really like doing it with these modules because it allows me to moderate everything, but i would LOVE to help you with this.

I really want people that are suffering with Joomla (oh god, the pain!) to be able to quickly transfer their sites to Drupal.

Hi. malclocke. I can provide you QSL dump of my site ( it`s in russian) with 6000 articles and hundreds of comments.
In fact, I`ve tried both modules (this and one mentioned above - by jcisio) some days before. This module (http://drupal.org/project/joomla) now works a way better and FASTER. And the only thing it lacks is impossibility to import comments.

Importing comments from jcomment DB tables is great idea, because: anyone can install jcomment in Joomla-site and import comments into this module! Then just migrate to Drupal. Yes, jcomment has option to import comments from most of the other joomla comment modules (I did it myselff importing hundreds of comments from Joomla Akocomment module, then used jcisio`s module and imported comments into Drupal).

Please if anyone has an SQL dump of JComments send it to me..
