It would be very useful to have the option to validate with taxonomy terms. For example, I'd like to validate a field within specific taxonomy terms:

If I have a vocabulary" "Fruit" and the following terms: "Apples", "Pears" etc... and a field "Color" I'd like to keep color unique for each node based on the term chosen. That way, somebody could enter: "Green" in the unique field and there wouldn't be any warning as long as it is unique within "Apples" or "Pears". However, if somebody tried to add "Green" again to the "Apples" taxonomy, then there would be a warning. How difficult would it be to add Taxonomy as checkboxes that could be used with the option "The combination of values from the specified fields must be unique"?

Thanks for contributing for the development of this feature. The latest development version of the Unique Field module (dated 2010-January-20) now supports validating the uniqueness of taxonomy terms within a given scope.
