First of all I read a lot of comments and discussion on both CMS and it all boils down to preference. I'm staying with Drupal because of the flexibility and power. I just recently began working with Joomla and the thing I hope Drupal 7 will have or maybe in the future is the very nice UI. I really hate Drupal's UI. I don't like the fact that it's web page driven. Bouncing back and forth from page to page just to make changes, add this here and there. It's irritating.
I develop software using VS 2008 to MS Expression and I like the ease of clicking tabs and menus without the refreshing and reloading web pages. Joomla is very nice and to me it's not as powerful as Drupal, but I really like it's UI. Would this be a future project for Drupal. To me, you have the best CMS, but gosh! would you please do something about the UI! It's horrible! I also dabbled a bit with Umbraco and it's UI is ok (a bit cumbersome), but no where near as nice and easy as Joomla.
Any feed back on the future of Drupal's UI?

I'd highly suggest installing Drupal 7.x. Taking a look at some of the visual features, usability features that have been worked on at this point for Drupal 7.

I was thinking about doing that, but didn't want to be disappointed if they keep the same UI. Ok, I will do that and I'm happy they already had this in mind.
Yeah give it a run!
Hi Vc,
Yep agree with the above - there are changes to UI in 7 that are inline with your question.
Try a doing a Local Development Environment (LDE) and see what you think.
Cheers.

You are right...
It is a matter of preference, see, if you are the one making the changes, you would want to have a backend section, but in cases where you let your users add the content, you would not want that functionality and would rather have users go to the page they want to edit and have rights to, other than giving them access to your administration section.
when it comes down to it, its a matter of setting up your workflow, and while Drupal 7 will have improvements, what you are describing can very well be done in Drupal 6 by setting up the correct modules.
