Comments always recorded as votes with Fivestar comments

I am not sure if this is a bug or by design. Could not find any info via search.

My problem is that if I use the Fivestar Comment Vote option, every comment on a node is going to be recorded as a vote instead of an actual comment. Additionally activity records and displays two voting activities for each comment.

Example: If a user comments on a node with the fivestar option turned om, then activity will display the following info:

user voted on the node type title
user voted on the node type title
