So does this mean the 6.x-2.0-beta1 supports ImageField?

SWFUpload tries to give you a SWFUpload widget ontop of ImageField. So, it should support any other widget module that uses FileField. What you could do to help make that happen is try out the module, test it, get involved in the issue queue and assist in making it work for you ;-) .
