putting on create node form in a panel or on node display?

Hey there, would anyone happen to know if it's possible to have the create content form be displayed on an actual node, as opposed to on it's own page, or maybe be place in a panel via the panels module?

I'd like to create a situation where users can fill out the create content form on the same page as a list view of all those nodes. I intend it to be much like a forum list but with the create thread form at the top of the page instead of on a separate one as with traditional discussion forums.

I looked around for a bit but i couldn't seem to get a definite answer by browsing modules.
