If you have let me know. I'm trying to integrate phpmydirectory with a drupal install on an internal project.

Aave a look at weblink.module
http://drupal.org/project/weblink
or dmoz.module:
http://drupal.org/node/64271
also interested in integration of drupal and pmd
I am interested in a full integratioin of drupal and pmd as well. I basically modified a drupal theme and pmdtheme template to look similar visually and added nice menus to both to navigate between them. I use phpadsnew for ads in both scripts.
A full integration would be very sweet. I would be willing to contribute to a bounty if anyone else is interested.
weblink.module would be more suited towards phplinkdirectory, not phpmydirectory.

I gave up on pmd
Lets face it pmd sucks. It's outdated and hasnt been updated bc they have no reason to update it when they're making money. I gave up on it and hacked an old version of the directory module, then combined it with flexinode and the LM paypal subscription module to create a paid online subscription directory. We still haven't launched but it's decent. The directory module is held together with glue and scotch tape but it "looks real nice." The category module does a directory, albeit in a different way.
Maybe when we launch I can try to persuade some one to make a module that works similar to mine but is built more solid. It's pretty snazzy. Users drill down through categories in a yahoo directory-esque manner. The main directory page is snazzy just because of the graphics. Anyways we're supposed to launch in a week or so, I'll post the link when it's up.

Yes please post URL when
Yes please post URL when ready, I'd like to see how you did it. I agree PMD has some pros and cons, 10.5 is due out soon and that should address some shortcomings.
With some major tweaking I am sure we can do something comparable in Drupal using Taxonomy, CCK, views, contemplate, ecommerce and a dozen or so more modules/ snippets. I don't have enough time, money or expertise to take a stab at it.

We launch on monday hopefully
I'll let you (and the world!!) know.
Well sir we launched
Searcy.com is open for business. We launched late Monday and now we're up and running, albeit in "beta."
The very hacked directory is at http://www.searcy.com/?q=directory. Now the landing page for the directory is supposed to be awesome and it's not bad, but my partner hasn't added subcategories for each of the cats so it's looks awkward right now. If he would flesh out a few subcats in each box it would look awesome.
Anyways it picks a random category there are the top. The subpages are pretty nice too. It's all held together with bubble gum but it "looks real nice." We've got lm paypal installed and we'll be using that real soon, the advantage of lm paypal is that we could go ahead and give our subscribers the role before we subscribed. It's nice for offline subscribers bc we don't really have to do anything special for them.
We're using taxonomy limit to keep subscribers from submitting multiple content and even a category limit thing so that they can only select a few categories. the category thing is just to keep them from picking every category or something to show up more. We've got junk all over the place on that site. Enjoy!

Also our company website is in drupal and is more solid as far as not having too many hacks, Lynxmark.com. Check it out.
Nice
Hi Jay:
Congrats! It looks great, nice use of Drupal all around. I could not get a random cat, always get "signs".
When you are on a listing page it looks you lose the category breadcrumbs from the directory module, that would be nice to carry over.
Do you use taxonomy to designate "featured"?
I will take a look in more detail and might have more questions.
Lynxmark.com looks nice too.
Thanks for sharing.

wow...
that is actually not bad at all!
I'd probably have a few dozen questions for you about implementing something like that as well, as soon as I get totally comfortable using Drupal... just got into it. That is, if you don't mind sharing some of the info...
phpmydirectory.com is horrible
Do not use phpmydirectory.com. It is the worst so called script directory out there. bugs bugs bugs
ya phpmydirectory sucks
I gave up on that a long time ago
