The maintainer of http://drupal.org/project/taxiselect asked me to merge his module into this one. As i really like the UI aspect / approach i plan to implement it as a tagging plugin.

Needs:
- I think i would like to tune the way the query is computed and also match childred-names when searching.
- make it visible where the match is

Optional:
Well it would be interesting to have a alternative "explorer" view, which would more look like taxonomyblock (so a hierarchical tree which can be expanded).
In addition you have a search field which matches parents / children and strips down the tree to only matched elements, while still displaying the hiarchy completely.

Subscribing. I'll be happy to contribute testing.

+1 for making it optional (plug-in). On some sites I would activate it. On other sites I wouldn't. Mostly to save memory on large scale sites.

I think i changed plans here. I will stick to normal flat tags instead of support hiearchical terms also. I think i tree view would fit better for those and will bloat up the code
