I tried the latest cvs version just now on Drupal 4.7.2,
it breaks badly, as you see the attached pic.

right sidebar goes below the left sidebar and the
node content below the left sidebar :(

goes below the left sidebar. please see the pic,

i don't see that problem in my local copy. Did you update all the files from the cvs? also style.css?

Ya, I have the latest style.css 1.16 version,

It seems the problem is with the .node class.
it occupies toomuch space, as you see the pic,

if you disable the atavar's is it then solved because on my testsite (with no atavar's) i do not see your problem.

Ya, its fine when the user avatars are disabled,

when I enable the user pictures in nodes,
it breaks,
