I am creating a global wellness network sharing information about resources, events, support networks and more. I would like to have a scalable system that allows me to add events from other peoples calendars and also forward those events and my own via my rss feeds.
Can someone tell me if there is a standardized way to do this aggregation/ reposting collaborative networking?
What additional fields should I have? What Modules should I be using? If there are already standardized practices I don't want to re-invent the wheel.
I also want to promote the work of others with listings for community activists, wellness practitioners, wellness centers. And make these listings highly searchable on the web.
We are doing other projects with this such as a global market place etc.. Please let me know about event RSS best practices etc.
Thank you for your time.

Hello webalchemist, I
Hello webalchemist,
I recommend taking a look at the calendar module. It supports iCal feeds which are a common way to share events on many websites. I don't know of a standard RSS way to share events, other than just a standard RSS feed view from Drupal that comes with the views module.
While trying to send receive feeds from others' websites, I've noticed that even though there are 'standards' out there, some of the larger companies out there don't follow them and deliver RSS and other XML feeds every which way (gotta love those real estate networks). You may need to do some work to accommodate different sources (don't have the answers there, sorry).
I hope that helps open some doors in the thinking process.
Best regards,
Chris
