For each browser I use, the favicon shows up differently. I installed Drupal 4.7.2. I'm using a customized bluemarine theme. I replaced the default favicon with a blue patterned square.

In Konqueror, this shows up as a green square that I had made for another site but as far as I know is not in my theme directory. (I don't know of a way to view a graphic on my unix host. I'm pretty sure I uploaded the right favicon.)

In Firefox, the favicon shows up correctly in the url bar.

In Epiphany, the favicon shows up as a black square, the same size as the green square. I have not made a black square anywhere.

Can anyone explain why this happens and what I can do about it? Thank you. (Note: this is not the drupalecommerce site).

Ublike previous versions, Drupal 4.7x has a setting in the themes section where you should declare what you want to use for favicon and what the path is... have you set that correctly?

Then remember that favicons are often chached by browsers because they are not expected to change very often... either clear cache or wait for those other browsers to update (after you make sure that everythign else is set correctly)

Check your file format. IE (as far as I know) will only allow .ico files while Firefox will accept gif files.
