A work around this would be to create a page and then assign that page as the or home page in SITE CONFIGURATION | SITE INFORMATION.

Once you do that it works fine.

Did you use '' as the path for the testing page? That should work to add the code to the homepage.

That's meant to be < front > (no spaces)
