Hi,

in my setup, the 'Synonym collapsing' module does not collapse synonyms as advertised. That applies to 6.x-1.x-dev and 6.x-1.x-dev with the patch from #327064: node->build_mode might not be set -> php error.

Simple test: Create the term "festival", make "festivals" a synonym; create a node, enter the term "festivals" in a freetagging vocabulary, check the vocavulary; you'll have the term "festival", and the newly created term "festivals".

That's exactly the behaviour of freetagging vocabularies I'd like to avoid, so I'm setting this issue to critical since this is the whole point of this module as I understand it.

However this bug still exists, meaning this module is still pretty broken:
