I am running drupal 4.3.2. I have installed the article module. At Home » administer » configuration, I am advised to: on the left hand side click on the name of the module for their individual configurations.

Clicking on the name of the module does not provide a further configuration screen for that module. Why am I unable to configure the articles module? In fact, NONE of the modules will allow for individual configuration.

Is this a bug in my drupal or have I installed it incorrectly? I used fantastico to install it and apart from adding articles module, it is a basic install.

Thank you for your assistance.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Drupal. Module configuration now works for me.

This seems to happen every time I upgrade Drupal. I loose the ability to configure all modules. Although I follow the upgrade directions carefully, and the upgrade goes to plan, this fault surfaces.

I do not see any other posts in the forums about this situation, so I guess its only me that has this problem.

How can I fix this issue? There are no error messages generated. Its just that when I am on the /admin/modules page, there are no modules listed in the left navigation column. Nor do the module names contain any link to allow for configuration.

Pulling [what little I have left] my hair out ...! Suggestions/advice will be most welcome.

This problem is still evident. I guess, in absence of suggestions from my betters, that I will have to uninstall, loose the information already extant, and reinstall. Setting my website back to a pristine [and boring] state.

Recommendations most welcome!

Banshee

I have not been able to fix this problem in my Drupal 4.5. The installed modules are listed, however, there is no way for me to configure them.

I have tried every default theme. I have even installed phpTemplate and Marvin 2k. None of the themes will allow me to configure the modules.

Initially, I had clean URI's activated and thought that this might have been responsible. Its not.

Observations, # create content, # news aggregator and # administer in the sidebar work as expected, yet, modules does not. Why?

There is nothing on google, nothing on Drupal.org about other people having the same problem ... maybe its just my set up. Drupal is complex for a non-coder and your advice would be appreciated.

Any takers?

It sounds like you're expecting to find each module's configuration pages under the "modules" menu item. While this is how things worked in 4.4, that has changed in 4.5.

Each module's individual settings (if any) appear as sub-items of admin->settings. The admin->modules page is only for choosing which modules are enabled/disabled.

Why does it say:

modules
Modules are plugins for Drupal that extend its core functionality. Here you can select which modules are enabled. Click on the name of the module in the navigation menu for their individual configuration pages. Once a module is enabled, new permissions might be made available. Modules can automatically be temporarily disabled to reduce server load when your site becomes extremely busy by checking throttle. The auto-throttle functionality must be enabled on the throttle configuration page after having enabled the throttle module.

If I am mistaken, then maybe it could be reworded to:

Click on the name of the module in the navigation menu under settings for their individual configuration pages, if the module is configurable.

If the behaviour has changed from the previous version, as you suggest, then I think it would be good to indicate this on the modules page. It is a rather dramatic change for those of us new to Drupal.

I have just installed a fresh Drupal 4.5, with the default settings, only story is configurable under settings. Does this sound correct to you?

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. Back to fiddling ...
