Node reference link in FOO group returns 403 when it should redirect to BAR group

I have a node (X) in group FOO w/ node reference to node (Y) in BAR group.

The clicking on the link to Y from X sends me to FOO/node/y instead of sending me to BAR/node/y thus giving me a 403.

If I go to group BAR first, then links to Y work just fine as they link to BAR/node/y.
