Maybe a stupid question... I'm a newbie and it's way past my bedtime after all.
I was attracted by the Fusion Core / Starter base themes, partly because of the Skinr module and (I assumed) you only need to configure the settings, blocks etc. once in Fusion, then if you decide to change to another Fusion compatible sub-theme, your config settings are retained. However, on the project page it says: "When you're using a Fusion sub-theme, make sure that you always use the theme configuration settings for that sub-theme, not Fusion Core itself!" What's the point of a base theme then?

Fusion Core is a 'core' theme
Fusion Core is a 'core' theme that other people use to develop their themes off of. I was just on a site the other day that had 6 or 7 really nice drupal themes all based off the fusion 'core' theme. They're really useful for custom templating.
