I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a way to set up clickable regions on an image ... and here it is: http://www.stockholm.bonet.se/meracl/mimg.htm.
It's not java or jquery or anything fancy ... but it does the job and it's free.

You're right, Os ---- I last did an image map 15 years ago and I plain forgot. This seems to make things easier - you just add a class to the img

How about a clickable map
How about a clickable map like on Ratemyprofessors, where each state links to a view pertaining to that state? The imagemap portion doesn't look too bad (I'll try GIMP) but what the view links? 50 links for each state seems a little tedious.
