Hi,
I’m creating a flash app using Drupal (with Services and AMFPHP), mainly as backend but also as a front-end information site. I have a couple of questions regarding the visual/navigational integration of the flash app and Drupal. I would very much appreciate a couple of pointers from someone experience of making flash+drupal=happily ever after. :)
1. INTEGRATION WITH DRUPAL FRONT-END
The flash app is already using Drupal as a backend (log in, register, etc). For promotion/SEO reasons I will have a Drupal front-end in any case, but should I *integrate* the actual flash app in the Drupal front-end as well (using SWF Tools or some other module)? We’re not talking about flash banners here but a totally independent flash application with its own login/register functionality. When the flash app is displayed I don’t want any part of the drupal site being visible. I mean, I could keep the flash app out the Drupal front-end and just have link from Drupal to the app…
Should I integrate with the Drupal front-end and if so, why (I've had a look at SWF Tools and other modules but I'm still not sure) ? Or if not, why not? And are there any performance related reasons for *not* integrating? And if integration is the way to go, should I use SWF Tools?
2. NEW VERSIONS
Let’s say the app is opened via www.myapp.com/app. Would that kind of address be an advantage – maybe also to have the flash app called via a node - rather than via the swf file name directly? I mean, that way I could change the file name whenever I wanted without the address changing, but the flash client would notice if the filename changed, discarding any cached version of the app. Right? (Not really a drupal question, I know.)
Thanks!
PWG
