This is also mentioned here: http://drupal.org/node/385190 with a much verbose title; so I am reposting a simpler one to bump it up.

It would be real nice to be able to automate clone+convert+comment. Sometimes when users create posts on our support website they use a wrong context (wrong node-type); for instance they post a forum topic instead of a support ticket. In these cases the admins create a copy using Node Clone, convert the copy using Node Convert, and go back to the original post to comment that the node is moved into a support ticket on this link for such and such reason. It is sort of like the neat "migration" feature using in the super cool StackExchange websites (see this example).

A tremendously useful and yet (possibly) simple to implement interface would be a check box on the "Convert" tab reading "Convert and keep the original, replying with a comment". The reply content would come from node convert templates, or a text box on the convert form, even better by using tokens such as "link-to-copy", etc..

#385190: Support the Node Clone module. In other words: first clone - then convert (and still keep the original node).

Please keep the issue queue clean. Duplicate issues are a waste of the maintainers' time.
