After entering my u/p in account settings and clicking "check account details" I get the OK message. Then I click save and get the following error

warning: fread() [function.fread]: SSL: fatal protocol error in /var/www/vhosts/mycoolwebsite.com/httpdocs/sites/all/modules/constant_contact/class.cc.php on line 1882.

My password is not saved.

This is not a problem with the module it's a problem with your server setup. SSL has not been compiled correctly.
