Can any one tell me that the preprocess function used in another themes like garland, acquia marina, can also be followed for simply modern theme. If so please do reply me.

Till now all drupal themes can be used with the ddblock module. Did not encounter a theme which can not be used with the ddblock module.

The preprocess function will work with any drupal template containing template.php where you may copy and paste the ddblock preprocess function that are shown in the tutorials in the above link.
