If I edit the content of a panel and then click the update and save button, it reloads the page and claims to have saved it, but the variants and panel tabs on the left are still highlighted in yellow, there is no save button at the bottom of the page, and when I go back to the panel, the changes have not stuck.

If I instead hit the update button (not update and save) and then hit the save button that appears below, everything works correctly.

I am using the current released versions of all related modules and the schema is up to date. There are no errors reported in the watchdog.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Same version of Panels/CTools.

Same here, Panels 3.3, CTools 1.3. Tried on a fresh install of Drupal + Panels and I could reproduce it.

To reproduce:

1. add content to a pane (can be custom content or any other pane)
2. click update + save
3. click the new content pane's setting button
4. it will show "Invalid pane id."

If I revisit page after "update + save" (by clicking in the URL bar then hitting ENTER, not CTRL+R), all is fine and I can enter Settings.

If I first click "Update", then "Save", it navigates away from the content page and when returning everything is fine.
