I am new to drupal. I have a client who is a composer and needs to put lots of sound files on his website.
Does drupal support this? Is there a decent amount of management for audio files?

Your requirements are not very specific, but yes, Drupal (extended with some modules) can handle audio files. The site drupalmodules.com lists all modules available on drupal.org, but makes searching easier: http://drupalmodules.com/search/node/audio.
I recommend that you search, read documentation and perhaps experiment with a test installation. After that, you can ask more specific questions and the community will be able to give more specific answers.
