I have not been able to reproduce this error. Can anyone provide some steps to reproduce it?

I don't know if it is the same issue, but I confirm Imagefield Import doesn't fill Alt and Title texts with default values.
Will provide a patch soon. :)

I have yet to try to apply the patch. But if it still works for you, please do. I consider RTBC a simple +1 (at least in my queue. :) )
