can i use the tableofcontents module with the markdown filter and if not which filter do your recommend

I have setup the input formats so i can use the markdown filter. The order of my filters is:

I have tried to setup a toc with markdown but it doesnt seem to work correctly. If this is not the correct filter to use what would you recommend. This is the order of the filters that i am currently using:

table of contents
freelinking filter
Markdown
HTML filter
line break converter
URL filter
HTML corrector

What would you recommend
